Dating Violence: Are you Being Abused?

Emotional Abuse
Calling you names or putting you down.
Making you feel bad about yourself, or telling you no one else would want to go out with you.

Intimidation
Does s/he scare you by smashing things, yelling at you or driving recklessly?
Does s/he follow you around at school or in the community?

Isolation
Do you have to justify everything you do?  Every place you go and every person you see to avoid their temper?
Does s/he use the phone to monitor where you are or get angry if you're not home when they call?
Do you avoid friends or family doing things you enjoy because of their jealousy?

Threats

Has s/he ever carried out a threat to hurt you?

Does s/he threaten suicide if you leave the relationship?
Has s/he threatened to break-up with you if you do not do what s/he wants you to do?

Sexual Abuse
Does s/he make you have sex when you don't want to?
Does s/he make you feel unattractive, sexually ashamed?
Does s/he constantly accuse you of flirting with other guys or girls, or act extremely jealous?

Physical Abuse
Has s/he ever pushed or shove you?
Has s/he ever hit, punched, slapped, choked or bit you?
Has s/he ever tried to physically restrain you to keep you from leaving?
Has s/he ever thrown something at you to hurt you?
Has s/he threatened to use a weapon against you?
